Record/Capture from web tv stream

I 'm trying to find a program that will record from web tv stream.
I downloaded almost all and nothing works for me !
Only WM Capture (Applian technologies) works. Why ?
Also a freeware program, out of the 10-15 I tried -I forget the name- but with poor results (the video does n't look good).
wm capture looks good but I have a number of questions about it.
Can anybody help ?

What kind of web tv stream exactly are you trying to record/capture?
