How to install and run Replay Music on Linux (like Ubuntu 9.10)

Wine lets you run Windows software on other operating systems like Linux and Mac OS. With Wine, you can install and run these applications just like you would in Windows.

How to install Replay Music for Windows on Linux like Ubuntu 9.10
  • Install Wine using Ubuntu Software Center, your favorite package manager or from Terminal:
    Code:
    sudo app-get install wine
  • Download Replay Music.
  • Right-click on the downloaded file (RMSetup.exe) and select "Open with Wine Windows Program Loader"
  • Install Replay Music (the same way you usually install any Windows software)

How to use Replay Music for Windows on Ubuntu 9.10
  1. Go to Applications -> Wine -> Programs -> Applian Technologies and select Replay Music

Alternatively you can run Replay Music from a command line:
    Code:
    wine C:\\Program\ Files\\Replay\ Music\ 3\\ReplayMusic.exe
Please note that "\" in the path are replaced with "\\" and " " (spaces)" are replaced with "\ " .
  2. Now you can record music on your computer using Applian Audio Driver.

The only problem is that Replay Music can't record audio from Linux browsers and music players. But you can record from Windows application including web-browsers for Windows:
  3. After running Replay Music for Windows in Linux and starting recording with it, open a web-browser for Windows or a player for Windows and start playing music.
  4. Replay Music will start recording your music. It will split and tag songs automatically if this option is not disabled in the Settings and if songs are not overlapped.

Re: How to install and run Replay Music on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10)

Problems using Replay Music for Windows on Linux with Wine:
  • I had no problems recording music from Windows applications like Opera browser for Windows when using Replay Music in Ubuntu 9.10. It was splitting songs properly, however it wasn't able to tag any songs.

I launched Replay Music from the Terminal and noticed the following error when trying to re-tag a song:
    Code:
    err:module:import_dll Library MSVCP60.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\windows\\profiles\\username\\Local Settings\\Application Data\\mdnslib\\GENPUID.EXE") not found
    err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\windows\\profiles\\alex\\Local Settings\\Application Data\\mdnslib\\GENPUID.EXE" failed, status c0000135
After copying the MSVCP60.dll from the Replay Media Catcher installation folder to Windows/System32 folder, Replay Music started tagging songs.
  • "Play track" and "Open folder" buttons don't work.

Overall impression: Replay Music is greeeeaaaaatttt!!! It can record, split and tag songs even on Linux!

Installing Replay Music 3.9.8 in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick

Downloaded Replay Music 3.9.8 and tried to install it in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick x64 using Wine 1.2.2. The installer reported that it couldn't register audio driver Applian_Audio_Plugin.dll. I wasn't able to launch Replay Music after that due to the audio driver problem. The I tried to

Then I killed all wine processes:
Code:
wineboot -k
Tried to install again and Replay Music was installed properly. No need to copy any DLLs or tweak anything. It works like a charm:

Hi, I am the original developer for reEarCandy. It is what I am working on to do the same thing as Replay Music. You can download it and its source code at http://knowthisyet.blogspot.com/. This is my blog address and has a page with download for this Replay Music clone for Ubuntu Linux. This should make you not need to run Replay Music through wine.
