split radio stations recordings onto separate and tagged music files

I often record on a mp3 player from a local radio station. Then transfer this large wav. file to pc. I'm looking for a SIMPLE program to edit out the chatter and divide to individual tracks that may be tagged.

I've used Audacity and some others, but the complexity of simply omitting the dj chatter and dividing the individual pieces becomes most tedious (and majorly time - consuming!).

Any suggestions for a simple editing app?

Thanks,

Meda

Re: split radio stations recordings onto separate and tagged music files

Well, I usually suggest Audacity for things like that.

Actually Replay Music can record MP3s from any Online Radio Station. And it can split songs perfectly into individual tracks, and automatically tag mp3 files with the artist, title, album and genre information.

But I haven't seen any sound editor like this. And I don't think it is a good idea to play your large .WAV files and re-record them with Replay Music. May be you can record your radio station on your PC with Replay Music.

Thumbs up

Re: split radio stations recordings onto separate and tagged music files

Thanks SR for the reply.

I've looked at Replay Music for online recording and its ability to split and tag individual tracks. Looks appealing.
But won't help much for editing recordings from my local fm station. No problem coverting files; just editing.

I'll have to look into recording to RM. The radio station is at a small campus and I don't think they stream online.

I'll keep looking . . . (any other ideas out there in space?)

You don't really need an online stream to use Replay Music 'coz it can record any sound produced by your sound card.

You may use a TV+FM tuners or FM tuner on your PC. Or just use line-in of your sound card to get the sound from your FM tuner, mp3 player or whatever other device you have...

Searching for other ways... but I'll hardly get ones.
