E-book (PDF) with streaming video???

Ebooks.. the ones on pdfs that are sold by the millions through affiliate channels. I cant believe that you cant embed a streaming video player into a pdf??? If you want to play video in a pdf you either:

Embed into the pdf - making for a very large download

Make a link to a server, video plays in a browser - not user friendly and confuses people.

I Suppose you can use youtube with a hidden video link but it's not professional.

If I I cant stream from a within PDF, I guess I'll have to use a streaming service with a cross-platform player?

any recommendations?

any thoughts? thanks

IMHO PDF is a downloadable format, it is good for text and video only (althouth you can use hyperlinks and other things in it as well). I don't think it is a good idea to embed video into it.

There are lots of other format to use from HTML to CHM that are much better for embedding videos.

I agree that embedding video is a bad idea..

I'd like to embed the Player for streaming... doesnt look time it can be done.

i'm researching viddler, vimeo and screencast for use with hyperlinks

its a shame... i'd really like to avoid another window popping up.

thanks

Hi Mate

I don't think it is feasible to embed video into PDF.

I'm afraid you're right.

Embedding a video into a PDF means embedding the whole video..

i just want to embed the player that connects to streaming video.

Looks like i'll have to re-market my product as "Video Tutorials with Companion E-Book."

You can create an HTML page(s) and link to PDF file(s) and videos (or embed videos). Don't see any problem with that.

Thats where i'll probably go while using Streamcast, Vimeo or Viddler as the video host/player.

I believe that marketing wise, "EBook with Video" sounds better to the public than "Video training website with Ebook".

E-books just have more Buzz right now and a PDF download seems more tangible than a password for a video site.... I'll still have the PDF but its more of a support document rather than a prime product.
