View Hikvision over the web - Unsigned ActiveXHei,
I am new to this, and have an ebay DVR "JE-D3754", which is not a Hikvision, but is apparently based on the Hikvision 8000. http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/21...deo_Audio.html I am mainly happy with it, but have one problem. The DVR is installed at home on a fixed IP, and can be seen from elsewhere on the internet. But, from my work Internet Explorer is fixed to not allow unsigned ActiveX, and can't be changed. This may not be the only problem, but in IE I just can't view my home DVR from work. I can also say that my work does not block much and is happy to allow youtube, etc, etc. The client software for the DVR also works from elsewhere on the internet, but not form work. It's not a host firewall problem. Any ideas? Is there any easy way to set up a seperate web server web site, or something. I'm open to all options, but just can't see which way to go. The DVR can obviously broadcast to the internet. I thought of streeming tv services, but havent found one that supports connection to this dvr server. All the Hikvision NVR, iVMS 4000 and Stream Media Server software works form a LAN PC to connect to the DVR. I could set it up on a virtual server on the internet, but I still don't know how I would view it form work and what I'd gain by doing this. The DVR is 10% for security and 90% for wildlife spotting. The issue with the unsigned ActiveX also creates a problem for setting up others who would like to view the wildlife. I can pay a little for an exteranal server or service, but what? Any ideas??? |

Re: View Hikvision over the web - Unsigned ActiveXThere are zillions of options
Can you install any software on your PC? Even if you can't you can probably use portable applications. You can probaly get a portable version of Internet Explorer and enable Active X in it. You can also try Firefox with extension for Active X objects. And there are lots of programs that allow remote administration. Depending on your version of Windows, you may already have the feature of sharing your desktop. You can also broadcast your desktop. ..... |

Re: View Hikvision over the web - Unsigned ActiveXThanks for the reply. I've gone for running a small server on my laptop at home by the DRV. The software I found works well, and at least lets me see live stills updated every second from anywhere, even at work. I think it cost just $10 for the licence for my 4ch DVR. http://www.linovision.com/pages/products/mss/index.php
It does do streaming as well, but that seems blocked from my work. I'd have preferred if it it could stream on http. Also, it is only live and cannot be used to view recordings. The remote desktop idea also (I think) gets blocked from my work, and is not practical for others. I'm still interested in a more comprehensive server software that I can run on my laptop (or elsewhere) that would deliver a Web site to anyone / anywhere.... |
