Question

need reupload of fairuse4wm file, 2006_12_09_drm_fixzip unless theres another way

First off, from what i've been reading that file, which will change the IBX in my windows media player is the only thing that i can do to get what i want to do to work, problem is, every link i found is dead.

so i'm really hoping that someone here has this and can reupload it because i really need it.

Now i'll explain the situation and maybe one of you knows another way.
I got my Zune HD yesterday and expecting to put some movies on it, i broke out my blu-ray copy of the dark knight and tossed in the digital copy disk. Just to find out after it was all done that it won't work in zune because of the DRM. I have legally purchased this, along with 4 other movies with digital copies and i want to be able to use these

I tried going over to my install of windows XP, but the video won't play and asks me to enter the code again, problem is then it won't work and says i can't use the code again. so the movie seems to be 100% locked to my vista OS. meaning that the virtual os won't work because it will still be looking for vista (unless i'm wrong here)

This is literally the ONLY DRM'ed file on my entire computer as i refuse to pay for anything that has DRM in it. So i want to just run that file to change the IBX of WMP, then strip the movie from the DRM so it's actually a useful file. instead of a 2GB waste of space.

thanks in advance.

The best solution here is probably to have Windows XP with the IBX that is supported by FairUse4WM or freeme2. Get a demo file with DRM protection and make sure the DRM removal tool works for you first. After that contact the service you got the DRM protected files from and tell them that Windows Vista was too slow on your computer so you were forced to downgrade it to Windows XP. Ask the service kindly to re-issue licences for you. After re-acquiring licences, remove DRM protection from them.

Besides freeme2 and fairuse4wm you can use lossy DRM removal software or just screen video capture software that does the same, but is more universal.

hmm thats an idea. maybe i'll give that a shot. At least now i know for the future not to enable these on my vista machine. So when star trek comes out i'll be sure to do it on my XP instal so i can remove that annoying DRM so i can actually use it on my Zune/PSP

thanks!

You can try to do that on your Vista. The problem is M$ is fast at deleting DRM removal software and fixes from file sharing services. Besides people are unwilling to re-upload these items.

Some content providers force you to upgrade IBX. In cases like this, it doesn't matter whether you have Windows XP, Vista or Seven.
So make sure your DRM removal software works with the IBX you have.
