Recording HDMI DishNetwork HD video to Toshiba DVD Recorder: Losing sides of pictureI am recording an HDMI DishNetwork HD signal to a Toshiba dvd recorder. The only way I can feed signal to it is over composite video or S-Video. Both ways lose part of the sides of the picture, although composite doesn't leave off quite as much. This may be normal since it is a downgraded picture. Playing with the screen sizing makes it worse. Is there any way to get the full image? I'm not really sure if it is an unwanted "zoom" effect or a chop off. I just see SCIF instead of SCIFI HD on the lower right for instance.
Thanks! |

Re: Recording HDMI DishNetwork HD video to Toshiba DVD Recorder: Losing sides of pictI don't really know how to solve this problem. While there are Video-Out settings for PC graphics cards, I'm not sure whether there are any similar settings for Dishnetwork receivers or not.
Anyway it might be a better idea to record HD signal rather than trying to record a downsized video and then zoom it to the full screen. |

Re: Recording HDMI DishNetwork HD video to Toshiba DVD Recorder: Losing sides of pictI'm sending it straight from the satellite receiver to the recorder's inputs. The satellite picture is set to HD Normal. The zoom in the recorder is off and the tv is set to "PIX2" which is full screen.

Re: Recording HDMI DishNetwork HD video to Toshiba DVD Recorder: Losing sides of pictSorry for not making it clear. You can't get HD signal over composite video or S-Video, you need to downsize it first. It is probably better to record SD channels instead.
However I prefer to record HD signal in HD format: HDTV to USB: How to capture Dish Network video losslessly (without re-encoding) |
