www.forextv.com: How Do I Record Forex TV video stream (rtmp:// .flv)

Fellow Forum Members,

I want to archive the videos available on www_ForexTv_com. However, the problem I am encountering is that they have the URL for most of their videos hidden behind some Java code. Therefore, your average FLV online downloader app does not seem to work.

I have tried the following apps with no success:
  1. URL Helper - this app is suppose to unhide the hidden URL but I have had no luck.
  2. HiDownload - no success with this app.
  3. FLV Recorder - no success with this app. It recommends I use Hidownload and URLHELPER.
  4. URL Sniffer - no success.
  5. Camatasia Video Recorder - Interesting result. It managed to record the video as it played on my monitor online, but the filesize turned out to be close to 2 gigabytes. This video should not exceed 40 MB, so I don't understand why Camatasia is generating such a big file.

Any help that any video stream expert can provide will be greatly appreciated. I am really stumped here. I want to be able to download these videos in their orginal FLV file format so that I can refer to them later on because ForexTV_com pulls these videos down after a weeks time and once they are gone they are gone forever.

Re: How Do I Record ForexTv_com Video

Try Replay Media Catcher or any other RTMP Flash stream recorder.

Camtasia is a Screen Capture type program. You're going to get a bigger file size.

Forex TV offers RTMP .FLV video streams. The above mentioned Streaming Star products are not very good downloading such streams or finding RTMP URLs. Bit Recorder from Streaming Star is slightly better, but I recommend you to try Replay Media Catcher and Jaksta.

Did you mean URL Snooper? The latter program is not good at finding RTMP stream URLs. Try Orbit Downloader or NetXFer.

Camtasia as a screen video capture program records anything that you can see on your screen. It doesn't download/capture/rip stream. To get smaller files you may use other audio/video codecs and smaller video resolution.
