yadda yadda tube recorder (Capturing/saving/recording/downloading youtube videos)Hi and thanks for any help I might get. A few months ago I was forced to use the XP reinstall disk that came with my Dell, which wiped out everything on my hard drive. Caught off guard, I was unable to even copy down names of the software which I had collected over the last two years. Among the lost software was an app which I had used several times with great satisfaction. I've been going nuts trying to remember the name of this streaming media converter. It would allow me to watch a video on youtube or google video (and others) and save it to my hard drive. Now the problem. The name of this app was....'something...something....tube'. I have searched google endlessly, and looked at the extensive list on this website, but I don't see it listed anywhere. This was not commercial product, just a simple program that someone made and generously offered it online for free. I downloaded it a couple of years ago, and I seem to recall it might have been the only 'free' software available for capturing streaming video...at least the only one I could find. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I would be eternally grateful. Like I said ... the app has the word 'tube' at the end....'yadda...yadda...tube'. TY!

Re: yadda yadda tubeTo be honest, that does not ring a bell for me.
HOWEVER, you CAN record youtube videos for 100% FREE using Replay Media Catcher 's demo mode. Keep in mind, the full version does cost $39 or so, BUT you can use the demo to record unlimited youtube videos. Sorry I don't recal the name of that program, But I hope this is a viable alternative. |

Re: yadda yadda tubeHi, Thanks a lot for the reply and suggestion. I just looked at the Replay Media Catcher info, and it looks like it has all the features, and probably more, than the one I was trying to find. I'm sure my search for the forgotten program will come to an abrupt end if it works out. It's getting kind of late here, so I'm going to wait until tomorrow to try it out. I'll post here and let you know if all goes well. Once again, thanks very much for your help. Will E

Re: yadda yadda tube recorder (Capturing/saving/recording/downloading youtube videos)Replay Media Catcher can download youtube videos for free, rename them automatically, extract mp3 files for free and even convert recorded flv videos!!! Even though it is FREE, you get high quality technical support from Applian technologies. I don't see any better alternatives to that on the market!
And you can even learn how to use Replay Media Catcher using one of the many free video tutorials Video Tutorial: How to record YouTube Videos for FREE with Replay Media Catcher |

Re: yadda yadda tube recorder (Capturing/saving/recording/downloading youtube videos)Hi and thanks again. I just finished installing Replay Media Catcher and watching the how-to video. It was an easy install, and the video instructions were quite simple. However, despite the claim that it copies 100% of Youtube videos, I tried to record a video from Youtube which is 2:06 long, but it only records around 90 seconds, then a little window opens saying that the demo version only records 75% and that I need to register to get the full version. Then when I go to the registration page, it says I have to purchase the full version for $39.99 to register! Undeterred, I watched the demo video again, just to see if I made a mistake. I repeated my attempt a second time. Same results. Am I doing something wrong ? Thanks again, Will E
