Problems viewing/recording rtsp:// .wmv Windows Media streams in Linux

hi,

I'm trying to view some lectures with vlc but I can't.
I'm using linux ubuntu 8.10
vlc 0.9.4

here is the command I tried and the results:

1. Use MPlayer

2. Change rtsp:// onto mms://
