How to transfer MiniDV video to computer

There is this camera I want, the Cannon ZR-500 MiniDV Digital Camcorder. But I need to be able to edit and cut footage on my computer and burn it onto dvds and stuff.

After connecting you camera with a firewire cable (IEEE 1394, i-Link), you can transfer your MiniDV to your computer and edit the video with freeware Windows Moviemaker or more professional software like Adobe Premiere or Pinnacle Studio.
