Pandora (about free music service; tricks; Recording from Pandora)Woot ! Found a pretty cool site
Code:
www.pandora.com Pandora started in September of 2005 but really started about 6 years ago with the "Music Genome Project". This project was started buy a musician/Computer tech guy and a bunch of unemployed musical friends. They shared music with each other by what they liked. He thought he could do the same on internet with a larger group by people rating the music as it played. The evolution is Pandora. You create your own radio station and as you give a up it finds similar music or artists that have been tagged with similarities as the song that you rate. This makes your radio station always getting more focused on what your likes and dislikes are. Great way of finding new music. To top that off the streams are 128 kb stereo. No software needs to be installed either uses your embedded flash player in your current operating system ( may need to upgrade ). Unlike Yahoo! Music Unlimited, Pandora will work with FireFox too! |

Just a little notice. Pandora is available in to the residents of the United States only.
Also their music licenses do not allow them to play specific songs by request. Your song selection is used to generate a station that will play similar music. Your song will be played eventually, in the mix with lots of other great music. Their music library contains approximately 300,000 songs from over 10,000 artists!!! The collection is amazingly diverse and covers every type of music except classical and world. It's great music from all sources: the big record labels, the indies, and musicians recording and self-publishing from their garage. The Music Genome Project doesn't contain any classical music at this time. Pandora works on Windows 2000 and XP with Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox. It also works on the MacOS X 10.3+ with Safari and Firefox. Flash 6 or 7 is required (7 recommended) |

Saving Pandora tracks to the HDYou may also save mp3 tracks that Pandora plays for you:
Just take a look in your temp directory: 1. Windows users: a. Click Start->Run or Press Windows+R b. Type: %TEMP% and click OK button. 2. Mac OS X and Linux users check /tmp You should see a directory named "plugtmp", "plugtmp-#" or similar and within that you'll see a bunch of files named access-# (where # is a number). Just copy those files out to a different directory, add a .mp3 file extension to the end and you will get mp3 files. These files doesn't have ID3 tags so you may prefer to use Replay Music instead. Know more about tagging software? Please add your post at http://stream-recorder.com/forum/showthread.php?p=44 |

Thanx, pesto126. The tricks don't really work anymore.
But the service is very good anyway. |

Re: Pandora (about free music service; tricks; Recording from Pandora)I just find it rather irritating that all the really cool and legal music download services are restricted to the US only - anyone kows why this is so?
