Removing DRM to use songs and audiobooks on iPod

Does anyone know any good free software that can be used to convert DRM protected files so I can keep them or burn them on to CD's? Also, can I convert DRM's to work on an ipod?

Wasn't gonna get an ipod because of iTunes but if I can use Napster and convert it to use on an ipod I would rather do that.

I have just downloaded a program called WMAconvert but I think (?) its only a trial as it keeps asking me to pay but so does Winrar and I've had that for months and it still works. This program has a button to put everything I've just converted onto an ipod.

Are there any programs the same as WMAconvert but that are free?

Thanks

Re: Removing DRM to use songs and audiobooks on iPod

There are many DRM removal tools. The list is not limited to Soundtaxi and it clones: WMA Convert, MelodyCan, TuneCab and TuneRaft.

Anyway you shouldn't remove DRM from rented files.
DRM removal software is intended to be used on legally purchased files.

FairUse4WM and freeme2 are free programs that can remove DRM from Windows Media .WMA audio files and .WMV video files. Many people use them 'coz they offer better quality than lossy programs like Soundtaxi. However these free tools are not so easy to use. It really depends on you what to choose.

So is it worth paying the ?7.70 for WMA Convert? Will it mean I can put songs straight onto an ipod easily?

Thanks, Carl

Re: Removing DRM to use songs and audiobooks on iPod

Many users prefer Soundtaxi like software, while many other stick to FairUse4WM and freeme2.

I dunno what ?7.70 is. Soundtaxi Platinum that removes DRM protection from audio files only costs $14,99.

You can read the following comparison to know some pros and cons of lossy and lossless types of DRM removal software:
FairUse4WM and Automate unDRM (drmdbg/drm2wmv) vs. Tunebite Platinum

In some cases freeware FairUse4WM works just fine so you don't need to install a fresh copy of Windows, learn about things like IBX and Windows Media Player rollback procedure.

And you should always test free trials before buying any software to make sure it works for you.

7 pounds 70 pence, I'm from England. I will try a few of the trial versions out. I don't mind paying for the program if its going to make everything easier.

Thanks
