Downloading/saving video clips from Youtube

Can someone please guide on how to download and save streaming video from youtube?

The youtube site says it cannot be done and one can only save to favorites the relevant page URL.

There are lots of methods to download video clips from YouTube. Replay Media Catcher can download YouTube videos for FREE renaming downloaded YouTube videos automatically.

And you can use free web-sites like youtubecatcher.com that provide direct download links for YouTube videos. However these web-sites require you to rename files and even give an .flv extension to the downloaded youtube video.

For downloading from youtube I use www.keepvid.com. I put there link from youtube and download video on my PC.
