WM Recorder problems with WMV D/L

Hi,

I am a newbie in this field and I have been trying out WM Recorder 11 to see if it can download a WMV for me (it originally was embedded into the HTML page with Media Player 9 as the main player).

It would download the file, but upon closer inspection, the file is only a few hundred bytes in size. If you rename the file and open it up using wordpad, the error generated would be come up with a reference to say "Invalid Player" within it (it looks like an HTML file to say this).

is there any way I can tweak the WM Recorder to be recognised as WM9? or can someone please explain to me what this error is and how I can go around fixing it?

thanks,

Ben

Re: WM Recorder problems with WMV D/L

Please post the URL of the web-page from which I can acceess the stream so that I can try to record it.

If you can play the WMV Windows Media stream you can record it in the PRO mode of WM Recorder in most cases. Although usually I prefer to use ADA Auto recording mode.

Re: WM Recorder problems with WMV D/L

Sorry.. The website is members registered only - so it needs authentication before the WMV file is even sent.

I tried using the Pro option and it did say "Recording" but when I did a play back on it, it was still a 3K file with nothing in there. When I went to the Options to see the server response on it, it still said "invalid player".

I have noticed the source HTML page to send out a GUID that I presume is unique for every session. The option in WM Recorder is to send out the Media player's own GUID out there - but this is not the same one. I have tried to hack the registry to use the same GUID as the one given in the source page, but still coming up with this error.

"<OBJECT ID="MediaPlayer" WIDTH="450" HEIGHT="360" CLASSID="CLSID:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95"
STANDBY="Loading Windows Media Player components..." TYPE="application/x-oleobject">"

Would this have anything to do with it?

Thanks

Re: WM Recorder problems with WMV D/L

Please PM me the web-page so that I can look through the FAQ and HELP sections of it. Please also attach the 3kb file.

Do they have a free trial? Do they have demo streaming videos?
