Is there a way to add content to an ebook?

I know i can add notes to an ebook but what if i want to add additional pages to a DRM-free book i downloaded from the web? I'm thinking perhaps I can convert it to a webpage and then use a tool to add pages and update the table of contents. I fear I may lose the notes and highlights I already have in the book.

Any ideas?

thanks!

Ebooks use many different formats including ePub, Mobi, txt, PDF, fb2. What kind of book do you want to edit?

Re: Is there a way to add content to an ebook?

Sorry, I use a Kindle. I convert my free epub books to Mobi. I have a free DRM-Free reference book but it has less references than the original paper copy. I would like to add the pages that are missing. I see i can convert the book into HTMLZ, but i don't know what that is. I also see taht i can convert it to a RTF using Calibre. My fear is breaking the thousands of links already in the book. My other fear is losing my notes and highlights.

If i lose all my notes and highlights, this will work in the beginning but after a while it would not be productive. It would mean that i could not continue to append pages to the end of the book unless I go through the trouble of adding my notes as end notes. But that is not my intention.

Thanks!

ePub ebooks can be edited with freeware Sigil.

As for Mobi ebooks, you can convert them to HTML or some other format, then edit and convert back to Mobi. Don't really know whether you will be able to preserve your notes and highlights or not.

Converting eBooks between formats can cause some layout information to be lost. You can add them in the format your eBook reader supports.
