Becoming too popular at some point of time makes a person or service lost it's "compass" and he/she/it starts to act as the "all mighty".

Something like that has happened with LJ. Despite everything, they do or care only about the things they find important no matter if they are good or bad to them (or what other members think). However, truth is that their reputation, rank and results (at the moment) allow them to act so. Things might change but it will pass a lot of time, probably years, until that happens (that highly depends of other cam sites and what they are doing).

Anyway, your suggestion to LJ is posted at the wrong forum (or it is not the wrong one looool)

Regarding popularity (traffic) of the LJ or any other cam site you can check their stats at many places online.

Just as a side not I will add that few weeks ago CB had about 314M monthly visits while LJ had somewhere around 245. I do have more detailed stats for them same as for some other popular and trending cam sites but they aren't topic here.
