I've tried everything you suggested. ffmpeg didn't fix it. I tried VirtualDub, but no matter what I tried, it cold me it couldn't read the audio, even though I'd installed the codec. I think the file is actually broken.
I converted them years ago and I didn't have much of a clue back then, so something must've gotten messed up.
I just tried Freemake again. The audio plays fine, but the picture is too fast. Converting doesn't work.
