If you can make your old laptop working without re-installing and even updating your Windows, you might be able to remove DRM protection on it. Unfortunately there is no way to remove DRM protection from Windows Media files without having valid licenses for them. And valid licenses mean that you can play the files, not that you purchased your files legally.
