Re: Installing Windows Media Player 10 on Windows Vista 32/64-bit

Okay, the package works now, but I still can't get this thing to work. At first I was getting a whole bunch of Access Denied reports in the Install.bat process, and it would ask me to overwrite a file (seemed to be a different one every time). After hitting yes a few times and realizing that it wasn't working, I went through every file and changed the permissions in order to allow it to overwrite it. I wasn't able to change 2 files. Anyway, now I run it and I get this:

Quote:
An unexpected error has occurred. Setup was not able to detect any Windows Media updates. Please try again later.
I tried the trick with the inf files, and the one that won't work is wpdmtp.inf. Then I run setup_wm.exe, and run that through, but at the very end, it gives me this:

Quote:
The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 10.0.0.3802 where 11.0.6001.7000 was expected.

Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled.

Do you want to install the Player from the Microsoft Web site?
This is driving me nuts. I'm about to just go back to XP to get my WMP back.
