How to record iPad or Android tablet video gameplay over HDMI / miniHDMI

Hi,

I have both iPad 2 and iPad 3 as well as Asus Transformer and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. I wonder how I can record/capture gameplays on them. Is recording via HDMI / miniHDMI the only solution? Are there any video recorders that can record from HDMI without a PC or Mac?
