For me, the quality issue seems to have more to do with HBO's server and how busy the internet is. Usually in the daytime, it always auto picks a low res picture, but late at night I can have four hi-res movies downloading, each 3-4 GB in length, I often have the same movie downloading multiple times so if one stops working there are still 2 or 3 other copies that might succeed. (unfortunately I have to babysit them when they are over 2048MB so I can save the finished file before GetFLV resets it to 0 Bytes).

I might try to implement QoS for rtmp to manually limit the available bandwidth it can use.
When baby sitting files over 2GB how much time do you have to react before getflv resets it to 0?
