Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place
Hi .i have been reading this forum for a few weeks now and feel it is only fair that i register and reply for all the information i have gleaned and in the hope that i can help someone else.
I too have been struggling to get my cctv broadcast on the net. i have one wired camera connected to a addonics 500gb DVR ,i have it so i can view it on my own network and all works ok.
However i have tried EVERYTHING to get it to work over the net to no avail, the last stage i got to was this :
using IE ,went into router to change port forwarding and the webpage would not open after applying the settings so i contacted O2.
I was told after speaking to several people that NO ONE was qualified to talk to me about port forwarding until i eventually got put thru to a chap in Northern Ireland. He told me that he had the same problem with his fathers cctv and dvr ..
The answer he assures me is that the O2 WIRELESSBOX ROUTER (THOMPSON) IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH CCTV
He told me to go and buy a NETGEAR N GAUGE ROUTER ......
My contract is up this month with O2 so i will be looking for another service provider with a better router .Hope this is of help .
