Some Network Media Players like WD TV Live can access content from NAS directly, so this would be the best way to go for me.

Unfortunately my TV (which is an old LCD) does not have this facility, is it such that when setting up a home network with all your media placed centrally (NAS) to access this on any TV within the house you need to fund individual PC's attached to each tv to access this data..?
