Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote place

Good morning.

I am very close to getting my cameras to work remotely, but am missing one setting I feel.

I had a D-link DIR300 connected to my DVR and 3 camera's via a static IP all worked great.

I had to change the router to a ASUS WL-520GU, I set the local connection up no problem. I then turned my attention to setting up the remote connection for my 3 cameras. I have got as far as getting the camera's to show locally via 192.168.1.109 and in my router settings I can see two devices using the router (my computer and the DVR) all good so far.

I can't get it to work remotely though and feel I am one setting away from that. I have a static IP.

Settings on my DVR as follows:

Network Type: Static
DDNS Link: Off
Port: 80
IP Address: 192.168.1.109
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS IP: 0.0.0.0

Do I have to change the IP address on my router (in Virtual Server Settings) to my static IP rather than 192.168.1.109 or do I need to change the IP Address on my DVR to my static IP address?

I can feel I'm soo close and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
