Record gameplay on the computer using capture card hardware via HDMI

Hello

I like to record gameplay of me on the computer, I currently use software to do this, however with the recorder I use it can not record at the resolution I play at and makes the game lag. Is there a way to use a capture card, such as the Hauppage HD PVR or Dazzle, on the computer. I have the ATI 5870, this has a pair of dual-link DVI ports, an HDMI port, and a DisplayPort. (Right now I am only using one DVI port)

Would it be possible to use a capture card from one of these ports, maybe if I could get a converter for HDMI to component or RCA cables. (The HD PVR uses component cables).

I have also seen the Blackmagic Intensity Pro and Intensity Shuttle. Could this record from my computer? (I can buy a USB 3.0 pci card). I think this looks the most promising.

Thanks, any help would be great.
