Have you tried
Replay Media Catcher 4 (
Jaksta)? It supports version 1 of Smooth Streaming Media which is what a lot of videos on nbcolympics.com are streaming. Some are version 2 which I am still working on. In any case RMC 4 (Jaksta) will tell you if its version 2 and not yet supported.

It also allows you to convert these files into other common formats. Microsofts Expression Encoder costs around 30 USD and is available from the Microsoft store.
