Stereo Mix greyed out on Realtek HD Audio sound card when recording from screen

The Stereo Mix in Realtek HD Audio sound card seems to have an issue on recording sounds. I've did a lot of research onto why FRAPS wouldn't detect and record my sound, and the reason was because of Stereo Mix being disabled.

I've read in many other forums that other users with HD Audio have their Stereo Mix grayed out and they're unable to record sounds.

I've yet to find a solution. Do you guys have any ideas?

Make sure that you have recording set to "Stereo Mix"

If you have HD Audio, it might be a bit of a bear because that whole convoluted interface makes switching devices a project.

If you have Windows Vista, Microsoft hid the option. To unhide it:
  • Go to Control Panel -> Sounds -> Manage Audio Devices and right-click in the window
  • Check both "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices"
  • You have to enable Stereo Mix before you can use it.

Post a reply and I will help you get it working.
It appears to be working happy. Stereo Mix is no longer greyed out!
