Recording to laptop in the field: What kind of microphone to use for recording?

Hello all,

I hope this is the right site to ask this question, and that it hasn't been asked too many times before. If so, please redirect me. : )

I have a very up to date PC laptop, and I'd like to do some interviews in the field. What kind of microphone should I use to jack into my PC? I want to eventually upload these interviews to a website for others to see, so I would need somewhat professional quality. I've been reading up and it seems like a dynamic microphone could be my choice, but I don't know if dynamic or consdensor or shotgun apply because i don't know if they can be jacked into my PC.

Thanks in advance for your help.
