Possible clue: URL displayed in WMR's URL box is significantly different from URL address displayed in Firefox (3.5.6)
Here's sample URL of Failed capture, as displayed in WMR's URL box:
Code:
http://v22.lscache1.c.youtube.com/generate_204?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id%2Cexpire%2Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag%2Calgorithm%2Cburst%2Cfactor&fexp=906501%2C906002&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=34&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&expire=1264039200&key=yt1&signature=3F775F1AB9AB1552AEF963CA9DC39DBF372B3EF4.CA2B7F128C25340F0D38C28FC8F36916BA0079B5&factor=1.25&id=e9a8effe9ec13fa4
Here's what Firefox displays as URL address:
Code:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ajv_p7BP6Q
BTW - Entering shorter Firefox URL (above) in WMR box prompts " Invalid URL ..." or some such (Or WMR records an un-playable snippet of file)

The URL in the address bar of your Firefox is the URL of the web-pages, not the URL of the video that is embedded into the page.
If you go to
http://download-youtube-videos.org/ and enter
Code:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ajv_p7BP6Q
you will get the following URLs for the videos:
Code:
Medium quality:
http://v22.lscache1.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id,expire,ip,ipbits,itag,algorithm,burst,factor&fexp=906001&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=34&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&expire=1264078800&key=yt1&signature=23F6D3625A1C9C7BA0713CF16D6FF00585598E20.23F4205ADAE68F27CCB95F2D8C82AA21FB6A3601&factor=1.25&id=e9a8effe9ec13fa4
Low quality:
http://v13.lscache1.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id,expire,ip,ipbits,itag,algorithm,burst,factor&fexp=906001&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=5&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&expire=1264078800&key=yt1&signature=CD2085536618BEE19AD175441389DAEF1F620528.90A1F0DB4D72831AD9F3ABA99E42217417B6386D&factor=1.25&id=e9a8effe9ec13fa4
The URL I got when recording with
WM Recorder 14:
Code:
http://v22.lscache1.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id%2Cexpire%2Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag%2Calgorithm%2Cburst%2Cfactor&fexp=903901&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=34&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&expire=1264082400&key=yt1&signature=70F8F3F2AA2E00A4BC964FD7695643C8A71A24AA.0BF3DA52D660A46267C0728C3ABF33D2B3A24AD6&factor=1.25&id=e9a8effe9ec13fa4&
(the video stream was successfully recorded in the ADA mode)
If you use a firewall, try to disable it temporarily and see if it helps.
