Re: avtech 760: Copy and burn a section of the video to a DVD or CD

The backup file can be played directly in your PC via the supplied licensed software AP. It can also be played with other media players (Ex: Windows Media Player or VLC) after the file is converted to “AVI” format).

To convert the backup to AVI:
  1. Install the supplied licensed software AP.
  2. To convert the entire recorded file to AVI format, press the "AVI" button.
  3. To convert a section of the video, right-click the mouse to set a starting point (▲ red) and click one more time to set an ending point (▲ green). Then, right-click the mouse to convert to AVI format.

Please note that the converter produces low quality AVI files. You can try to provide your backup with the AP software to the police, although they will probably won't be willing to install any unknown software.

You can also use a TV input card to record the "DVR video out". You can record to MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 that can be played by police without any problem. You can also author a DVD-Video disk from a recorded MPEG-2 file.
