Russian looks really interesting. Is it difficult to learn?

When you are in the tank, you can't see anything, you can't hear anything, so when you get out of it, you need lots of things to be explained. This can be translated like for dummies. And an english equivalent is probably: "For those who live under a rock", but I'm not sure.

It is a difficult language indeed. This shouldn't be a problem for a polyglot like you

Heh, yeah. The only thing I am concerned about are the characters.

But learning Russian would definitely have its benefits; lots of good coders come from Russia.

Not a big deal. They are only 33 symbols, not thousands of hieroglyph. And unlike English, you don't need to learn how to pronounce words, you just read them as is. The letters that seem to be identical to latin, are pronounced in a different way then in English, so this can be a problem indeed.

Russians programmers has won many contests. They are indeed one of the best ones.

Many Russian programmers and software engineers that I know have very strong mathematical and IT background, so a coder has a negative shade for many of them. That's because they can solve the toughest problems. I guess that MS, Google, Intell,... would be different without Russians.

I've outsourced many projects via freelance marketplaces and I've got to tell you that Russian IT professionals did the job much much better. Of course not all of them are perfect, but generally speaking they work much better than freelancers from India, China and many other countries.

it's true, I've worked with Russians and they're very professional. I guess I should learn Russian too, but unfortunately I'm not so good at languages

It is among the most difficult ones. Speaking part is ok, but writing in Russian is insanely hard (even for Russians haha).
