recording archived music from online broadcaster

For a long time, now, I've wanted the capability to record archived music from a radio station which also broadcasts online. When I try to find software to do this, all the software specifies streaming audio. I would think there is a difference between live, streaming audio and archived music. I want to record the latter, but am unsure whether I can. Can anyone clarify for me?

Archived music can be streamed on-demand as well as offered for downloads.
