Record streaming audio to iPod directly / Record web radio to podcast format?

Does anybody know if there is software that will rip internet radio to podcast format? They blocked streaming audio at work, so what I would like to do is record my favorite internet radio station at home while I am at work, and save it as a podcast.

If it works the way I envision it, all I need to do is bring my iPod home every night and plug it in to automatically load the latest podcast. I like that because I wouldn't have to mess around with the itunes library or anything else. I think podcasts also let you put a limit on how many editions it keeps as well, so there would be automatic housecleaning, too. I'll always be a day behind but at least I will have something to listen to.

I really liked the idea behind the iFill software, but it looks like Griffin discontinued it. That's a shame. Anyhow, thanks in advance for any assistance.

iFill - record mp3 files from online radio stations directly to iPod

Griffin Technology iFill records mp3 files from thousands of free online radio stations directly to your iPod.

iFill works on Windows XP and Mac OS X. iFill has been discontinued and is not supported for iTunes 7.4.1 or later.

You can choose several stations at once and select from many different genres. With iFill, you can go to bed while charging your iPod, and wake up to an iPod full of new music, ready to go jogging with you, and without having to search through your record collection, browse the iTunes Store, or rip any CDs.

Using iFill is easy:
  • Open iFill
  • Select your radio stations (you can select more than one!)
  • Click Record
Done! Fresh music starts recording to your iPod.

The iFill software is only for your personal use. Radio content may contain copyrighted or proprietary material, so recordings made with iFill should not be sold or played for a public audience. Please don't infringe on copyright holders' rights by copying or distributing their material without permission.

Re: Record streaming audio directly to iPod /Record web radio to podcast format?

I don't really know any program that can record web radio stations to iPod directly.

I don't have an iPod, but if I attach my Creative mp3 player, I see a removable drive. I can always erase everything on my player and set-up audio stream rippers to save its recordings to the mp3 player directly.

Capture streaming audio to iTunes with Replay AV

Replay AV allows to record audio streams from mp3 radio stations. It also supports many other streaming audio and video formats. Even if your player doesn't support the recorded format, you can convert your audio files after capturing them automatically. You can also add your recordings to iTunes.

How to convert your recordings to mp3, m4a, m4b (and add them to iTunes) after capturing audio streams with Replay AV
  • In the Replay AV open the Properties window for the show which files should be converted after capturing.
  • Select the Basic tab. Select the format you want to convert to (such as mp3, m4a, m4b,...) in the After recording, convert to combo box.
  • Select the Output tab.
  • On the Output tab check Add to iTunes library if needed.
  • On the Output tab mark the Keep copy of the original file after converting check box (if you wanna keep the original recordings).
  • On the Output tab check Delete shows over x days old and enter the number of days if needed.
  • Click the OK button.

Depending on a format you want to convert from, you might also need to change the DirectShow options of the Replay Converter
  • Launch the Replay Converter
  • Hit the Options button. Hit the Audio conversion options button.
  • In the Audio Conversion Options mark Real (.ra),... and Other checkboxes to use Direct Show when converting from these audio formats.
  • Hit the OK button. Hit the OK button.

This doesn't answer the question so quit trying to market products. Replay doesn't have an app to record directly to the ipod. In addition, It's a windows only application.

pas sur ce ton!
if you want to comment on how useless our postings are and if you want to complain that we only try to promote products, then feel free to vent here:
SRF : Web-site feedback

this forum, SRF, is a public (anyone can google our posts!) annoying place and we try hard to moderate it, edit posts, delete threads, ban users, promote good software products, censor contents, publicize half-truths & nonsense and do other manipulations.

Because it is fun.
So dont spoil it.
You deserve an infraction for your rude tone

Wow... the post was made more than 2 years ago.

There is no such product as Replay, so what exactly are you commenting about?

Jaksta for Mac allows to download streaming audio/video and add it to iTunes.

Replay Media Catcher 4, Replay Music, Replay AV allow to add their recording to iTunes (after conversion or not). Replay Converter allows to add audio/video files to iTunes as well.

If you use Apple products, you probably know that their multimedia content is transferred to iPods, iPhones, iPads with iTunes.

Re: Record streaming audio to iPod directly / Record web radio to podcast format?

I am not sure that I come to the right place, but i come here just giving a piece of my mind. Recording streaming audio to iPod directly will be a bit hard, you need install some plugins on the players, perhaps it will slow the gadget down. why not record streaming audio on your PC first and then transfer them to iPod?
