Record HDMI input (PS3 HDMI) without HD capture card?

Hello everyone! New to the forums here, but I did read this thread.


How to capture/record video from HDMI (record game play from XBox 360, PS3 to PC)



My setup is PS3 HDMI -> Monitor HDMI


I was wondering if I would be able to record the HDMI because my computer is also plugged into the monitor. I don't feel like spending money on an HD capture card. Any ideas?

If you don't want to get an HD capture card, then you need some other recording device like video camera, DVD recorder,...

Another problem is that PS3 uses HDCP, so to record from PS3 you need to connect it with your capture card using a component video cable.

So it wouldn't be possible for me to use any software on my computer to record it?

How are you goind to get video from PS3 onto your computer without a capture card? Does your graphics card have an HDMI input?
