Realtek ALC 888 and Fraps no stereo mix. Anyone had this problem and resolved it?I have an HP Media Center a1600n using Win XP Pro SP2. Only things added to it is a SATA II 750 GB WD HD, memory swapped out for 3 GB DDR2 PC2 5300 (667 MHz), and a Radeon HD 4670 1GB DDR2 PCI-Express video card.
I use Fraps at times, which since I bought this PC will not recognize Realtek HD Audio as the sound input. Instead all I have available is the Line In/Mic In. After much research I discovered this is because it relies on the stereo mix feature to be able to adjust the recording input to Realtek instead of Line In/Mic In. I have tried removing and reinstalling the drivers from HP, Realtek, and even an ALC888 driver from Dell. All with no luck. The kicker is this, I have another HP machine, an a1750e which is identical to mine except it has a 2.5 Ghz cpu instead of a 2 Ghz, in another room that I installed everything on using the dell driver and everything works perfectly in Fraps and detects the stereo mix in the Realtek Audio Manager. I have searched through multiple forums including tomshardware and fraps, aswell as many searches from yahoo search engine and yes even google. Anyone had issues with this that has resolved it please let me know how. I really would like to unplug this cable from my side speaker out to my line in jack and have this setup properly. |

Re: Realtek ALC 888 and Fraps no stereo mix. Anyone had this problem and resolved it?You can also use Replay Video Capture and WM Capture to record video with sound, even if you don't have stereo mix / wave-out mix.

On Windows XP Realtek ALC 888 should have a stereo mix. But the only thing I recommend it to continue to search for a driver. Besides trying the latest HP driver for the sound card, try a previous one. If it doesn't help, try several ALC 888 drivers from Realtek. Then try ALC 888 from other PC manufacturers. I know that you have tried some of the drivers already, buy this seems to be the only way to go. Also try to remove the driver, reboot and then install a new one. |

Re: Realtek ALC 888 and Fraps no stereo mix. Anyone had this problem and resolved it?You don't have the stereo mix at all? Or you just have Line In/Mic In on it only?

The only option I have for recording device is Line In/Mic In. I've also noticed just today that on the other computer that is working right, the kb888111 hotfix was loaded, although I don't remember doing that. Since it is working on his, and I know that hotfix is for this purpose, I have been since trying to remove the drivers and the UAA HD driver(with no luck I might add). The UAA HD driver is not in the ADD/Remove and if uninstalled from the device manager, it just adds itself back upon reboot. |

If you have another driver, right click on the old one and select "Update...". To use this feature you may need to extract the files of the new driver from a setup file. |
