Problem converting to DVD-Video: AVS Video Converter makes all one file on DVD menu

I just subscribed to get AVS Video Converter. I have four exercise videos and I want to place the DVD in the player and select one of the videos from the menu. This is how such DVDs are normally used. The video converter just makes one big video of all four.

Yes, I read the instructions. I browsed to where the four videos are and added them by using the plus sign in the program. I selected “To DVD” and the “good” profile. I went to the DVD menu icon and choose the second picture with a grey silhouette in it. I then wrote the titlt of the DVD. I asked it to “convert” and the computer did its thing for about an hour. Next I selected “burn” when prompted.

The only thing appearing in the menu is the word “Play” and it plays all the videos as if they were one. In other converter programs I saw each of my videos separately in the menu and I could play any one of them.

Do “chapters” have anything to do with getting the four separate files on a menu? I thought they were just for scene selection for one big movie. Other video converts I tried like ConvertX and DVDFlick do what I want automatically.

Even the menu background is not the one I selected although I do not care about that.

Thanks in advance to all who help

Have you clicked onto the "Chapters" menu

and "Disc menu"

?

p.s. I don't burn anything to DVD anymore. I prefer network media players and DLNA certified HDTVs.

I wish I had gone into computers as a career. It is so fascinating. What are network media players? I want to be able to pop the media into a machine and watch it on my TV to do the workout in my basement. Will this do that?

I finally figured out that I had to set each separate video as a chapter with the automatic setting and choosing start at beginning of clip. However I have to rename each chapter by typing it. I was hoping it would default to the name of the film clip that is already there. ( I am a slow typist)

AVS4YOU and separating videos.

While using AVS4You it has been explained to me that in order to get separate videos I must choose auto set chapters/ at the beginning of each chapter and then right click created chapters and select Rename file. I did that and it works. However, that really is not creating separate videos in that it is still just one big video that is now cut up. The time indicated on VLC Media player does not start over as I go up the list.

The ConvertXtoDVD program that I have also downloaded has separate distinct videos. I have already bought AVS4You subscription and I am wondering if I should cancel it.

Take a look at WD TV Live, for example. It allows to play videos from any PC or drive on your home network. The Ethernet port connects this player to your home network through a wired connection or via popular, supported WiFi adapters (sold separately). It can also play videos from attached USB flash drives and USB hard drives.

But there are other solutions as well. For example, my HDTV is DLNA certified, so it allows to play videos from my PC. Both my HDTV and my PC are connected to a router via ethernet.

My HDTV can also play some video files from an attached USB drive.

As you can see there are many solutions. Using a DVD-player might be one of the cheapest among them, but it is very time consuming.

If the feature is not supported, suggest it to AVS.

This is probably the way it works.... Again, suggest AVS a new feature that you want to see.

If you don't like it and/or won't use it, then cancel the subscription.

I looked at the picture and I amwondering how it works. Do I connect the box to my router and then something else to my televison downstairs that I want to view the videos on? It is just a regular tv.

Usually one connects WD TV Live Plus, WD TV Live or any other network media player to a router using ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.

Besides the HDMI port that lets you connect WD TV Live (Plus) to HDTV or home theater, WD TV Live (Plus) has composite (RCA), and component outputs ensure compatibility with virtually all television sets:

Note that there are different network media players, they support different formats and different online music and video services. For example, WD TV Live (Plus) can play h.264 .FLV files, but doesn't support FLV files using other video codecs. Also some network media players have a built-in hard drive (for example: WD TV Live Hub
