swann cctv cameras: Problem connecting through IE: The page cannot be displayed error

 

hi
just bought a swann 4 camera network kit,,set it up fine

set up dhcp on my dvr,assisgns an ip address,connects fine when i connect my virgin hub to the dvr and my laptop at home through the wireless on the same hub

when i try to connect through IE i get The page cannot be displayed
error,when i try to connect through netviewer it also fails...

but like i said it connects fine at home....any help would be greatly appreciated as what good is remote viewing when i can only view at home??

Have you forwarded your port correctly?

Did you port forward TCP, UDP or both?

What port do you use? Have you tried to use 8080 or 8081 or several other ones? (You ISP may block some ports)

Did you reboot the router (power off / on) after making the changes?

Do you have a static IP or a dynamic IP address?

I have same problem not being able to connect externally from my iphone to swann dvr
port forwarding and all that are a bit confusing
Any one got any step by step checks I can make to get this working
