Webcam Alternative (virtual web-cam): How to do webcamming without having a web cam?

Hello

To play MOV/3GP in windows media player I can install MOV alternative.

The same way, does any one know some kind of webcam alternative which I can install and do webcamming without having a webcam?

I will really appreciate if someone could help me out here.

Thank You

SplitCam is a free virtual video clone and split video capture driver for connecting several applications to a single video capture source.

Usually, if you have a web camera or video camera connected to your computer, you cannot use it in more than one application at the same time, and there is no standard Windows options that makes it possible. SplitCam allows to multiply your web-camera in a video conference software like ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, Skype Video, Camfrog, AOL AIM, Pal Talk, or whatever...

You may choose different video sources: USB Web Cam, screen, video file or image file.

Hello

I know one such program.

Try virtual web camera software like Fake webcam or webcam simulator.

I have recorded few videos of myself and now I just play them on skype using fake webcam at my workplace. None of my chat buddy could figure out that its not me but just a video.

Send me a PM if you need further info. :)

Streaming Videos as Webcam

I use fake webcam for this purpose. It’s just a tiny program that does it all.

Fake Webcam

Use fake webcam to play you pre-recorded videos on instant messengers (Yahoo, MSN, Paltalk, camfrog etc) while chatting. It can even broadcast one single movie to all the messengers at the same time. Pretend like a teenage girl or a 50 year old male, your chat mate wont be able to figure out that its not you.

It enables you to:
* Play pre-recorded videos without even having a physical webcam.
* Shared your video clips with family and friends through your instant messengers.

Soft webcam to play video clips while chatting.

I use "Video2Webcam" to broadcast video clips on Yahoo Messenger almost every day. And my chat mates are very entertained with my home made videos, funny moments of friends or family, and my holiday clips, etc. It works somewhat like a plugin or shell of the instant messengers (ICQ, MSN, AIM, Paltalk, Camfrog etc) while streaming. You even don’t need a real camera because of this fake webcam.
;)
Tired of seeing only a face and a boring wall behind, why not try this virtual cam?

Freeware open source WebCamStudio (GNU/Linux) allows to create a virtual web-cam, that can be used:
  • as a virtual web-cam (useful when your web cam is not supported by flash on a web-site)
  • to broadcast (stream) your desktop (with your webcam)
  • to add video effect to your web-cam

Re: Webcam Alternative (virtual web-cam): How to do webcamming without having a web c

The only software I could get to work with the following:

Hauppauge 2250 TV Card + a Samsung Full HD Camcorder, is called: Magic Camera, made by Shining Morning

If using the mini-usb with the component video out (as opposed to doing the smart thing, which would be s-video), one can use the middle (green) video connector that has the yellow band around it. IF, that is, you use the daughter card.

Set the camera's TV Analog Out to composite, not component. Any resolution will do it. Component will not work unless your tv card has component video. Confused? That's normal.

If using the daughter card, there will be 2 hauppauge cards in magic camera, when you set up the web cam. Use only the second one, and ignore the second composite jack (i.e. use the first).

use the "video bar" to route the second hauppauge to the video output. If you can't find the "video bar", please do a search on a software rundown. There is a video in YouTube, for example.

When you have the camera set up and you can see yourself, you can then Skype, no problem, without having to use stealth or kernel modes of the software... just choose magic camera web cam in the options/video settings of Skype.

I am excited about getting this to work, because it took 2 days to figure it out myself, without docs. But once I knew how to search for "virtual web camera", and "camera splitter", it was a piece of cake.

BTW magic camera is free, as is, but you can remove the banner it displays by paying the latest price, either a 1-year; full; or lifetime registration.

By the way, the manual of my camera says: "Webcam: NO"

Hah!! Can I have my dumpling and eat it too?
