Hi all,

I've tried to read through the forums but haven't seen my problem listed. I'm mostly new to the whole ebooks thing but relatively informed and eager to learn.


I've tried to remove the DRM using the Calibre plug-ins and the Kindle for PC (K4PC) tool. I've tried adding the book to calibre both with the command prompt and by importing. For the cmd prompt, I get the following error:

K4MobiDeDrm v1.2 provided by the work of many including DiapDealer, SomeUpdates, IHeartCabbages, CMBDTC, Skindle, DarkReverser, ApprenticeAlf, etc .

Removes DRM protection from K4PC, K4M, and Mobi ebooks

k4mobidedrm.py [-k <kindle.info>] [-p <pidnums>] <infile> <outfile>



Input File was Not Encrypted - No Output File Needed



I have a Nook because I like the format better, and have successfully removed the DRM from an epub. However this *.azw format has me stumped (unfortunately, it's the only digital format I can find this one book in...)

Hi again,

I forgot to add that I downgraded my K4PC to 1.4.1 (no luck), then 1.4.0 (no luck again). As far as I can tell I don't need to enter any codes in the customization, right?

K4PC/K4Mac/Kindle Mobi and Topaz DeDRM 0.3.1 Calibre plug-in works just fine for me for removing DRM from AZW files. I use Kindle for PC 1.5.0.

If you download your books with K4PC, you don't need to customize the K4PC/K4Mac/Kindle Mobi and Topaz DeDRM plug-in.

I just registered on this forum to share the solution that worked for me.

You might not be able to remove the DRM from books downloaded using Kindle for PC 1.6. What you need to do is the following:

1. Uninstall Kindle for PC 1.6
2. Delete the books in My Kindle Content folder
3. Install Kindle for PC 1.41. You can find it here:
   http://amzn.com/gp/feature.html/ref=sv_kinh_1?ie=UTF8&docId=1000493771
4. Download your books using Kindle 1.41
5. Proceed to removing DRM

It's important to note that this is book files specific. I suspect that the new Kindle for PC adds something to the files to counter DRM removal that's why it's important to re-download the books using the older Kindle for PC.

The latest version of K4MobiDeDRM_v03.5_plugin works fine with Kindle for PC 1.6

I only tried K4MobiDeDRM_v03.1 and that didn't work with Kindle for PC 1.6. Now that 3.5 is out, I'll give it a go if I ever need to update Kindle for PC.
