hey guys is this considered to be a streaming website?

there are many videos with audio which i wanna record onto my laptop...

i have tried a few free screen recorders but all of them have crappy audio.. can anyone help here? thanks..

you are a pure genius..

can i ask you how did you do it?

cos in that website, the only files which can be downloaded are mp3/4 audio files..

you can only view the videos of the talks but not download the actual videos themselves.. at the most, you can only download the audio files of the talks..

if possible, please show me how to do it by PM..

there is this practice program on that website which has 150 hours of talk which means 150 files..

i need to download all those 150 hours of talk at as small a file size as possible without any noticeable loss in video or audio quality..

please mod, if you can teach me to do what you just did, that will be fantastic.. thank you..

sorry to giggle *ggg* but you sound new to stream downloading.
you need to sniff the streaming URL.

I have used HiDownload to sniff the url (automatically) and download the file. Try the software. It does EVERYTHING automatically.

Dont ask. Just try.

if i wanna keep my ip address secret from those working there, do you think i should download through firefox or download through hidownload itself?

secondly, i am gonna have 150 hours worth of files.. how should I compress the files in an optimum manner without any loss in audio/video quality? thanks man, you really helped me..

this is offtopic dear eric. If you are interested in hiding your identity ("anonymous surfing with fake ip address", e.g. with proxy, vpn, tor, etc.) then please search this forum or google or wikipedia. i am myself an experienced downloader (of protected web contents) and i really dont care about hiding my ip address. REALLY. if i was downloading the dharmasun stuff, i would use HiD to download all 150 files at once without altering my ip address. HiD is primarily a downloader manager.

Compress 150hours? i dont know, sorry. i would leave the files original as they are. :)

let me answer indirectly:

I own ~10 different downloaders, half of them are purchased, half freeware. If visit 100 arbitrarily (by chance) selected websites with streaming media contents, then i would need maybe 7 of my tools.

There is no single tool on the market, which covers all 100 websites. If you want to be successful on 100 websites, you will need more than 1 tool.

As you can see, my HiDownload isnt even mentioned there. HiD is not the best and not too popular. So before you use it on a regular basis, make sure to test other popular downloaders such as WM Recorder and Replay Media Catcher. Good luck.

I second almost every word here.

No need to close the thread. There are other tools that might be suggested.

For example you can find stream URLs with freeware Coojah. And here you can even use something simple like freeware Video DownloadHelper for Firefox. The latter allows to find streams URLs from this web-site without any problem.


Don't compress anything :D HDD drives are not that expensive.

If you still want to convert, you may want to reduce the video resolution, then you can use a smaller bit-rate. Leave the original audio and compress the video using MPEG-4 AVC video codec like freeware x264.
