Removing DRM from Amazon topaz file: Error: 'Authors' DRM Removal Failed.

 

I´m receving an error when I try to remove DRM from an Amazon bought book with topaz format. Here it is:

I´ve tried SKINDLE but it´s crashing!

What DRM removal software were you using?

Have you tried to use Calibre plug-ins?

Have you tried to use any other software from ebook DRM removal tools archive besides skindle?

Yes, I have tried unswindle and KindleBooks.pyw

I also tried the Calibre plugin, but I don't know if I did it right, all I did was install the plugin according to .txt instructions and then try to open the DRM book. It did put the book in Calibre library without any error message, but I can't open the book in there, so I guess it failed.

I added about 40+ .AZW ebooks from Amazon (downloaded with Kindle for PC) to Calibre. The program didn't produce any error. I tried several .MOBI ebooks Calibre created and was able to open them with Kindle for PC, Kindle and Kindle DX.

Try to convert your unDRMed .MOBI ebooks to some other format (preferably to the one that you will be using on your PC, ebook reader, tablet, cell phone,...). Let me know how it goes.

Haven't seen this error before. Try to contact the developer of topazextract.py.

someone suggested in another forum that it could be the lack of an "author" in the amazon file that was generating this error. So I commented out the lines refered to "author" in topazextract.py and it did the trick!
