marthastewart.com uses RTMP streams.

You may use WireShark to find RTMP URLs and then download them with rtmpdump
Code:

rtmpdump -r "rtmp://cp40332.edgefcs.net/ondemand/" -a "ondemand/" -f "LNX 10,2,152,27" -W "http://images.marthastewart.com/images/assets/flash/videoplayers/OmniVideoPlayer.swf" -p "http://www.marthastewart.com/show/the-martha-stewart-show/steak-recipes?video_id=ca89142df8c5b210VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD" -y "mslflash/flash/msshow_6013b" -o msshow_6013b.flv

You can also install Linux like Ubuntu; use dual boot or just install Linux onto virtual machine like VirtualBox. In Linux you can use rtmpsrv and rtmpsuck, which allow to find parameters for rtmpdump automatically.

If you need a GUI program that allows to download automatically, try Jaksta for Mac . It supports RTMP protocol.

Thanks SR for the prompt reply. Unfortunately it is way over my head (knowledge-wise). I did download the dmg & user guide but I can barely understand the contents. :(

I was hoping there was a simpler way of capturing the video as, for example, there is to capture youtube movies by using the Activity Window to identify the download line & double-clicking on it to save the clip.

As a matter of interest, I pasted the link in your posted example
(http://www.marthastewart.com/show/the-martha-stewart-show/steak-recipes?video_id=ca89142df8c5b210VgnVCM1000003d370 a0aRCRD" -y "mslflash/flash/msshow_6013b" -o msshow_6013b.flv) and used the Activity Window capture method --- but it only captured the 12.7MB 30-second advertising file: (CPWM_Feb_MStewart_400x300_1297800251.flv) - - not the cooking demo that follows.

So it seems I'll have to buy again, reluctant as I am as I got stung last year buying AVS4You - shelled out over AUD$80 only to find it was a copy of old freeware that couldn't do the job.

But I'll try the Jaksta you suggested. Thanks.

Look forward to any responses to the other 2 greeting card sites I enquired about.

If you're talking about Jaksta for Mac, then everything should be pretty simple. You just hit the "Start recording" button, then open your web-browser and play your streams; they will be downloaded automatically.

Using Wireshark or Ubuntu is free, but is more complicated.

The Activity Monitor can find HTTP links, but not RTMP ones.

Not sure what kind of freeware is that. Contact AVS support and ask about your problem.
Always try demo versions of the products before buying them. If they don't work, try to ask for a refund.

Also if you have Windows, there are several free applications that you can use for downloading RTMP streams.
