DVR doesn't stream audio, but audio working on playback - Any Ideas?

My DVR System don't stream audio, via Ip. I have a Microphone setup into the Audio input on the back, everything enabled correctly. still don't send audio over the net. I've tried a powered mic and non powered mic. Stupid thing is, It will play back audio when I use the playback feature. (powered mic is super loud an alittle static, unpowered is best). Okay, I know the input audio is working correctly and the DVR is sending video over the net just fine. Why can't I get the damned thing to send audio over the net as well ?? even the software has Mute/unMute an Vol up/Down functions.. sooo One thought Is, It Can't.
*Let's also go an alternate route here, what's a good program to stream audio from one pc (where the dvr is located) to another pc (home monitoring computer), where I normally watch the cams anyway.. any idea's?
I had one dumb idea, use ventrillo (server side at home) and Client (where dvr is located) and set it to mic active, useing a low activate sound to trigger the mic.. which would then start sending streaming sound over the net to the home PC. atleast then I could hear when some (use very bad words here) was trying to kick in the door.... ..
