Removing DRM from Overdrive Library Free ePub Downloads onto iPad

I have a new iPad and have installed iBooks. I have certain ePub books downloaded from the Public Library with DRM. I cannot get these books to read on my iPad. They are free downloads with an expiration date. I can only read on my PC/MAC with ADE and would like to transfer to iPad. Any suggestions?

There is a thread about removing DRM from ePub already. But we do not encourage removing DRM from rented files. Please remove DRM from legally purchased files only.

p.s. "Reading is a joy on iPad", claims Apple on the iPad's homepage. It really is, but if you care about your eyes, then get an eInk reader such as Amazon Kindle or Sony Reader.

Great, now you are saying you have a soft spot for DRM on rental books. That doesn't make sense to me. This whole site is dedicated to stripping DRM without the motive for piracy. But when it comes to library rentals, the same concept doesn't apply?

I have a Kindle and want to be able to read library books just like anyone else. Just because my electronic device does not support it, it doesn't mean I shouldn't be entitled to read the book. So if I strip DRM, convert the file, and then destroy the file after my rental period, what is the harm?

It is a good idea to delete the DRM-free file when the rental period is over. And it is the only way to go that I recommend.

i am also a new user of Kindle and would like to opportunity to use epub library books from overdrive but am being hindered by the DRM issue and epub's incompatibility with amazon's kindle. i have read the iheartcabbages posts in this regards but i receive an error message caused by three lines of the python code provided in the ineptkey.pyw file.

I have everything else up and running but i'm having difficulty with obtaining the ineptkey, which is supposed to save as a der file to my computer. i feel like i'm completely out of my element. i am clearly not tech savvy enough and really require some additional step by step guidance in this process. can anyone please help me?

i really don't want to pay $30 to ebook-converter when i'm getting the library books for free. i have no intention of pirating the books. i only want to be able to read them on kindle and then destroy the files once my period is over. please help!

Please post
1. the versions of ineptkey.pyw, python and pycrypto that you use
2. the exact error that you get
