ted.com uses rtmp:// .flv streams. You can download or capture them without any problem:

Yes that looks quite straightforward but at least for me it simply does not work & I guess the person who originally posted the question also found it did not work.

I use the latest Version of FF & Win7(64).

On the TED site the download button is plainly visible & when pressed the video resets on another page & allows the selection of the desired mp4 quality. I usually select download to desktop when trialing but in 3 years of watching TED it has never worked which is infuriating.

I am aware that several add-ons to FF are available that might resolve but they also often result in a severe loss of reliability for FF so I am now very wary of adding anything for which I can not find a clear need.

I do not use IE & Chrome (until recently) my favourite browser now refuses to work even after a reinstall.
