A problem recording some Ustream.tv

I've used 3 different kinds of rtmp catchers, which are WM Recorder 14, Replay Media Catcher, and Jaksta.

For some streams, they will disconnect from the url it finds after about 40 seconds.

I've noticed a pattern here. On WM Recorder 14 anyway, the url comes up as rtmp://live_xxxxxx with the xxxxxx representing a random number sequence. When I stop recording the stream and try to catch it again, the number changes.

Is this a playlist? Or protection? In either case, is there a software that can bypass this? By, say, being able to catch whatever is coming from an ip and a port.

I thought WM Recorder could do this, but it always cancels even though I'm 110% sure the ip and port are right.

Thanks if you can help me.

Re: A problem recording some Ustream.tv

Ustream.TV has changed the way of broadcasting RTMP streams, so you may have problems recording because they do disconnect you.

The problem can be solved by capturing RTMP packets instead of recording. Replay Media Catcher 4 (Jaksta) in the RTMP recording mode (Go to Tools -> Settings -> RTMP Download Tweaks and mark the "Always record RTMP streams" checkbox) and Orbit Grab Pro can do that.

I'm testing a new version of WM Recorder that doesn't have problems with Justin TV and Ustream TV. Hopefully it will be released very soon.

Exactly what I was looking for Stream. I didn't know Jaksta had that option.

I tried FLV Recorder, but the FLV files came out with bad framerates. There's no way I'm gonna try to match the framerate exactly.

Thanks a bunch for the tip.

The next release of rtmpdump (2.2f) will handle this too...
