Recording from dvd back to mini DV camera

I'll start by saying I have no idea what I am talking about.

In general I'm trying to take a file off of a dvd and record its contents back onto a Sony Handycam HDR-FX7 Mini DV.

If anybody knows how I could really use the help.

I'm not sure whether it is possible to use Firewire (IEEE 1394) to transfer video from PC to a mini DV cam. But you can use analog connections like S-Video (separate audio cable needed), RCA cable (separate audio cable may be needed) to connect to your camera. However I don't see any sense getting video recompressed for DVD (or was it just a raw stream?) and use analog connection to record it with your mini DV cam.

Why do you want to do that???

Some MiniDV cameras do allow to record videos over firewire.

But if you just need to rip your DVD to hard disk, you can use freeware software like DVD Decrypter instead.
