How to sync gmail calendar with Evolution (Ubuntu 9.10)

Evolution has a nice feature. It allows you to synchronize your Evolution Calendar with Gmail Calendar.

How to sync Google Calendar with Evolution:
  1. Run Evolution
  2. Go to "Calendar"
  3. Click "File -> "New" -> "Calendar".
    1. Change the Type to Google,
    2. give it a name,
    3. put in your username (your gmail e-mail),
    4. Click "Retrieve List"
  4. Select the calendar you like to add from the drop-down list.
    Assign a color if you like. You can also choose whether to cache the calendar offline.
  5. All your calendar should show up in the Calendar of Evolution under "Google".

Support for Google Calendar is far from ideal. Evolution doesn't support repeating or all-day events (hopefully it will be changed soon). Also, you can't sync your tasks or memos with Google Calendar, since GCal doesn't support them.

You can also use GCALDaemon, a free OS-independent Java software, for syncing between Google Calendar and Evolution or other iCalendar program
