GetAsfStream - file size limit.

Hi all,

I have googled extensively and searched through this very informative forum, but I cannot find an answer to my problem.

I use GetAsfStream (v.2.1.1.1b) which happily records the WMV stream, but, when the file size gets to 4gb, GAS, it seems, begins to overwrite the file from the begining, and making it unplayable. If I stop recording just before the file gets to 4GB, the video will play fine.

Through my googling I read that there is a 4GB file size limit on FAT32 partitions, but I am saving to an NTFS partition.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Thanks.

Thanks for all the input and help everyone.

For what it's worth I found out that it's a problem that 32-bit O/S's have.

Ah, sorry nobody responded to this until now - it's not a common issue apparently, but glad you were able to get it resolved (or figured out, at least) just the same. :D

I don't have any problem playing 5-8GB files in 32bit Windows XP and Ubuntu. 32bit OS limits the amount of dynamic RAM you can use.

To solve the problem with large files, you can use a recorder that can split files. For example, Replay AV can split by time.

Thanks.

I read all about Replay AV on the link you posted. It doesn't say anything about splitting the recording while it records. Splitting the file after it has been recorded is not possible because recording halts at 4GB. Can you shed any light on whether ReplayAV splits on-the-fly?

Thanks again.

I've finally managed to get the reply. Replay AV splits in real time. Sorry for the delay.
